There will be no regular meetings in Fall 2015.

We can schedule a time to

meet up individually!

UCI Global Microfinance Brigades is one discipline of UCI Global Brigades. We aim to empower economic development in under-resourced communities with limited or no access to credit. Every summer, we travel to a partnering community in Central America for a week long brigade. We conduct micro-enterprise consultations and workshops through the rural banks established and monitored by Global Brigades. We also work to provide these communities with a strong financial system by giving them access to loans, savings accounts, and capital to fund community projects and initiatives, resulting in community empowerment and financial literacy.

This year, we can plan a trip to  Honduras in June 2016 (After Graduation) or in September 2016 (After Summer School)

Throughout the school year, we prepare for the summer brigade by volunteering at local elementary schools to promote financial literacy. Our board members are also trained to teach microfinance workshops for any students who are interested in learning more!

Our Vision

To improve equality of life by igniting the largest student-led social responsibility movement on the planet

Our Mission

To empower volunteers and under-resourced communities to resolve global health and economic disparities and inspire all involved to collaboratively work towards an equal world

Our Model and Methodology

1.   Establish a community bank prior to the first brigade

2.   Community banks offer members 3% interest rate loans, financial literacy trainings, and a share in the

bank's profits at the end of the year

3.   Community banks also stimulate the local economy by providing loans for microenterprises and small businesses

4.   Once established, community banks begin to receive brigades to strengthen it
